Journey
Roody Pétuel Dauphin, professionally known as Roody Roodboy, was born on June 27, 1988, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Growing up in the working-class neighborhood of Cité Militaire, Roody faced adversity early in life following the tragic death of his father. As the eldest sibling, he stepped up to support his family. In 2005, his uncle introduced him to the guitar, sparking a deep passion for songwriting that transformed his personal struggles into artistic drive.
Roody stepped into the national spotlight via Haiti’s premier music competition, Digicel Stars, making the top ten in 2008 and capturing third place in 2010. These appearances launched his professional solo career, culminating in his acclaimed 2016 debut album, “Fòk Tèt Ou La.”Blending Rap Kreyòl, Konpa, and vibrant Rabòday rhythms, Roody earned a reputation for combining catchy melodies with relatable social narratives. His track "Tranble" became a massive hit, accumulating tens of millions of views and helping him claim back-to-back Haitian National Carnival Champion titles in 2017 and 2018. Successive popular releases like "An Kachèt" and "Krazèd Fwaye" (featuring Oswald) firmly established him as a top-charting Haitian solo artist.
He also became the first Haitian male artist to reach one million followers on Instagram. In 2021, Roody expanded his reach into business by becoming a co-owner of Joker Electronic, releasing branded audio gear.
Roody Roodboy remains a leading figure in contemporary Caribbean music, celebrated for his high-energy performances and cultural impact.
